Your Roadmap to LEED
Schedule Exam: You can schedule the LEED Green Associate or LEED AP Specialization Exam online through USGBC website. Schedule the test in short enough time so that exam preparation gets your full focus. Pick a date and time of the day when you are most alert.
Study Routine: Do not try to collect every and any study aid that is available out there. Pick the ones that you are most comfortable with and suits your study style. Each individual is different, and each one of us study differently. Nevertheless, you should read the Reference Guide cover-to-cover at least once. Try to understand as much as you can rather than try to memorize it fast and then forget it all even faster. Remember, this exam is about applying what you learn. While taking the practice exams concentrate on both the correct answers as well as the ones you got wrong. This will not only help you brush your knowledge, but also help you understand what are the areas that still need your attention. Keep aside time to study everyday.
Pre Exam Guide: On the exam day know where you are going and get there early. I had done a dry run a day before the exam. This familiarizes you with your exam site, people working there, and help you fight some of those pre-exam jitters! Some centers will also give a walk through of the exam center if you request. Dress in layers, so that you are comfortable. Eat well before the exam. You cannot take a break during the exam.
Use The Tools You Have: The exam will have 100 questions to be answered in 2 hours. Read each question carefully, and do not stress. You will be provided with paper and pencils. No calculators are allowed, but the calculations required if any are very elementary in nature. Before you start the exam, you will be run through 10 minute Exam Simulator Orientation. This is just a logical flow of how to use the browser buttons or mark the questions you wish to come back to later. You can go through these in much less time than 10 minutes. Use the rest of the time to write down what is called the pre-test brain dump. You may not use this during the exam at all. To have it next to you is comforting!
Wish you all the best for your exam!
